Organizing and Interpreting Data (Mathematics Year 5)

Data Graphs Using Bar Graph
In Statistical data graph, a Bar graph is a graphical representation of the mathematical data by a figure of bars of even width drawn horizontally or vertically with equal spacing between them. For Study, Bar graphs are a very well known type of graph best matched for a qualitative independent variable.
Two Types Of Bar Graph:
1.  Vertical Bar Graph

2.  Horizontal Bar Graph
Bar graphs should have spaces between the bars when discrete data is being graphed. In Bar graphs the independent variable is shown on the x-axis and the dependent variable is shown on the y-axis.

Construct A Bar Graph From Given Data
Step 1: Draw the vertical and horizontal axes.
Step 2: Determine the correct internal and mark the vertical axis. Name the axis.
Step 3: Write the names of the subjects below the horizontal axis. Name the axis.
Step 4: Draw the bars vertically according to the number of pupils. Colour the bars.
Step 5: Give a suitable tittle for the bar graph.
